Tips for sun safety:
Avoid overexposure to the sun between 10am and 4pm.
Wear a hat and protective clothing if you're going to be exposed to prolonged sunlight.
Use sunscreen with a sun protection factor (or SPF) of at least 15 or higher.
Because UV rays can travel even through clouds, follow these guidelines even on overcast days.
In
general, on a patient's first visit, the dermatologist will obtain the
patient's history, conduct an examination, and determine the necessity
for preliminary testing. An
example of a question you might be prepared to answer is: has there been
a change in a product used at home? Patients with reoccurring rashes may
find that, to avoid sensitivity to a certain product used at home, they
have switched products, but often the same ingredient may be used in the
new product as in the previous one.
