Did you know?

More than 20% of the U.S. population is affected by allergies.

Two types of Allergic Rhinitis:

Seasonal, which is usually most severe in spring and fall when the level of pollens is the highest.

Perennial, when the body's immune system responds excessively to an allergen, such as mold, animal dander, or dust mites

allergies

Dr. Cherry Riverside Medical Clinic's allergist, Dr. Brett Cherry, helps patients of all ages with their allergy related problems. If a patient also has asthma, Dr. Cherry will treat both the patient's asthma and allergies, as they can be closely related. If your physician has diagnosed you with allergies, ask for a referral to see Dr. Cherry for more extensive testing.

After the physician has completed his testing he will consult with the patient (and their parents, in the case of a minor child) explaining all of the findings and the course of action. Patients not needing immunotherapy may continue their treatment with their primary care physician.

Patients requiring immunotherapy (antigen injections) will be provided with additional information pertaining to their allergy. Antigens are a mixture of liquefied substances that the patient is allergic to. The physician prescribes a dosage mixture that will be given to the patient for a designated period of time. A small amount of the patients prescribed dosage is given to the patient to build up their immune system and make them more resistant to allergies. After a patient has received their injection they will be required to stay in the physician's office between 20 to 30 minutes depending on the type of antigen you have.

The most common types of allergies our patients have are:

Dust mites    Mold   Grass Food Cats, dogs or both Pollen
Trees   Bees, wasps, or a mixture of three or more insect venoms

Dr. Cherry and his staff have a variety of informative pamphlets that the patient can take home with them. Patients are welcome to visit our medical library located near the Urgent Care of our Main Clinic. We also provide the following links to websites for more information:
